Indian deg-bhapka attar distillation — Aquilaria sinensis chip wholesale supplier for Mysore Kannauj Hyderabad attar houses

🇮🇳 Markets · India

Plantation Aquilaria for the Indian attar industry

Mysore, Kannauj and Hyderabad are the world's deg-bhapka attar capitals — hand-distilling oud-base attars over centuries-old copper still architecture. India is also one of the largest single domestic markets for agarbatti and dhoop incense, which together pull thousands of tonnes of mid-grade agarwood material annually. We ship into both segments: high-grade chips as hydro-distillation feedstock, and mid-grade volume as agarbatti/dhoop raw material.

Sourcing Reality

What buyers in this market actually need

Deg-bhapka feedstock specs

Indian attar houses prefer Grade B chips with consistent resin density for predictable yield (typically 1 kg chips → 8–15 g pure oud oil through traditional hydro-distillation). Larger 30–80 mm chip dimensions preferred over fines for optimal water-vapor extraction over 20–30 hour runs.

Domestic agarbatti and dhoop volume

Indian agarbatti manufacturers absorb mid-grade powder and chip remnants by the tonne — finer 100–200 mesh agarwood powder blended with bamboo-stick paste for retail incense at INR price tiers reaching the mass market. We ship 500 kg+ container loads of this grade.

Customs and freight

Mumbai (Nhava Sheva) and Chennai are the standard ports for sea freight; Delhi and Bangalore for air. CITES Appendix II requires Indian DGFT import licence in addition to the Chinese export permit — we coordinate the documentation paperwork end-to-end. Standard lead time 4–5 weeks port-to-port.
